Since this GTP get's driven all year around, practicality is a must. Without protective grilles on these subs, I was scared they would be punctured by things I put in the trunk. Instead of buying the Kicker square grilles, we decided to do something a little more custom.
A frame was constructed out of 1" framing, then was fiber-glassed to to go with the contours of the box. Then body filler was applied and sanded to fill in all the imperfections.
A panel was cut and molded out of 1/4" MDF. We made an Oakley logo in Photoshop, traced it on the panel and cut it. The carpeted the box and panel, cut and stapled wire mesh to the back, then added speaker cloth to the back.

Cut out another Oakley Logo from the 1/4" MDF, carpeted it, used the mesh and hot-glued the GTP Badge to it. This looks amazing in person, this picture does not do it any justice. Just a little more custom.
